Most of you are probably asking “What is Tapping??”  Well, Tapping is an easy healing tool that provides the very foundation for expanding your emotional freedom. It is easy to learn, and most of all, easy to apply, which is why Tapping, also known as EFT, is becoming a well-known tool for everyone.

By itself, the EFT Tapping Recipe can be applied to any issue you want, and although it is only the first step to EFT’s full potential, it continues to provide results that range from encouraging to unbelievable. The rest of the benefits arrive when you learn how to aim the tapping procedure at the best targets, but you should know the basics before learning the rest. So let’s get started!

A recipe, of course, has specific ingredients which must be added in a certain order.  When baking a cake, you cannot add salt instead of sugar, and the batter must be mixed well before putting it into the oven.

Otherwise….no cake.  Right?

The EFT basic recipe is no exception. Each ingredient must be introduced precisely as instructed – in the proper order.

The EFT Tapping recipe has 5 brief “ingredients” and takes very little effort to learn. Once memorized, each round is performed for approximately 30 seconds. Practice makes perfect, of course, so after a few tries the whole process becomes familiar. You will then have a permanent tool in your toolbox for healing that you can use for a lifetime.

“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”  Energy disruptions are the reason we have any kind of emotional issue like grief, anger, guilt, depression, trauma, and fear. Since both physical and physiological issues often have emotional roots, it also follows that clearing energy disruptions can be a useful tool in re-balancing our minds and bodies.

  • The wording is an essential part of the process because it tells our system what we are working on. Negative emotions come to a head when we are focused on them.
  • The points Tapping uses are at or near the end points of the energy pathways (meridians) much like how acupuncture and acupressure.

The EFT Tapping Points

  1. Karate Chop Point (use tips of fingers on the side of the opposite hand- the point is the fleshy part below the pinky)
  2. Top of Head (tippy top of the head)
  3. Eye Brow Point (where the eyebrow ends and the nose begins)
  4. Side of Eye (temple)
  5. Under Eye (under the eye right on the top of the cheekbone)
  6. Under the Nose (right above your lip)
  7. Under the Chin (right under your lip)
  8. Collar Bone (right on the inside part of the collar bone, closest to the sternum)
  9. Under the Arm (directly parallel to the chest on the side of the ribs) 
  1. Identify the Issue:

Make a sentence of what energy you want to clear. This becomes the target of the EFT Tapping Basic Recipe. Examples might be: a headache; your former partner is trying to hurt you financially or emotionally; your heart is broken; or you are lonely. Be sure you are only targeting one issue at a time!

  1. Test the Initial Intensity:

This is important.  Before starting, measure the issue’s intensity by assigning a number to it on a 0-10 scale where 10 is the worst 0 is no problem whatsoever.  If, for example, you start at an 10 and eventually reach a 5, then you know you have achieved an improvement.

  1. The Setup:

Here, we design a simple phrase and say it three times in a row while continuously Tapping the KC point with your fingertips of your other hand.  This is letting your system know what you’re trying to address.

We do this by saying:

“Even though I have this _______________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself”.

You may have to re-word the sentence depending on the issue you want to address, for example “even though my ex-husband/ex-wife is being viscious to me” or “even though I feel lonely and depressed right now”. Remember, you must use EFT to work out your part of the problem rather than trying to fix someone else.

The language that we use always aims at the negative. This is essential because it is the negative that creates the energy disruptions that The EFT Tapping Basic Recipe clears.  EFT works a little differently, so even if this feels strange and against what you’ve been taught, go with it!

  1. The Sequence:

We follow the sequence below while saying what is bothering us.  We must pick a side to tap on that feels most comfortable- so if you chose the right, the whole sequence should be the right side.  If you want to alternate, than you can do the following sequence on the left side.

Start after the Karate Chop point and go into the bad stuff; the really bad feelings.  Let it out!  Just remember to end it that you truly love and accept yourself!  Then as you repeat the sequences over and over, start to say more positive things.  There are so many ways to do EFT and that is the good part!

Remember, the purpose is to clear our emotional road-blocks.  You can do rounds of EFT and then start to eventually turn the negative feelings into positive feelings. 

Remember to always end on the Top of the Head point and end it the way you started it- that you love and accept yourself deeply.  Then take one BIG inhale and one BIG exhale to breathe out all that negativity!

  1. Test the Intensity Again:

Finally, you establish an “after” level of the issue’s intensity by assigning a number to it on a 0-10 scale like you did before you started. If you are not down to a 0 or a 1, you can keep going.
